Having worked between disciplines of spatial, interior and stage design, performance art curation, theatre, music programming and festival production, 1000 Realms was born from a frustration with fixed edges - it gives in to a desire to play in the in-between.
Our practice is an intuitive, restless rehearsal. We follow instincts, fragments of stories, the pleasure of making.
While we worked on temporary design projects that ask us to conjure entire worlds only to dissolve overnight, we dreamt of many afterlives. 1000 Realms reimagines impermanence, holding onto the magic, the mood, and the intensity of these fleeting worlds while avoiding their cycle of creation and discard.
Our commitment extends beyond the imaginary and into the hands that build our work. Alongside our own making, we work closely with local fabricators, suppliers and electricians whose skills and care underpin everything we do. Rather than perfection, our objects honour process - every mark a trace of human craftsmanship.
